First Week Back At Slimming World – Ben & Jerrys Ice cream, Burger And Chips, Plus Piri Piri Chicken And I STILL Lost Weight

I like the idea of getting weighed on a Wednesday. It gives you chance to put whatever naughty things you ate over the weekend behind you. And trust me I have my bad moments. Having said that I have been a strong believer that you must ALWAYS behave yourself the day before weigh in and there I was yesterday eating everything I shouldn’t. Full of cold and sick of being good on my diet I went the other way.

I had piri piri chicken for dinner with steamed rice. For those of you that are not Portugal based its like the chicken you buy from the deli counter in Morrisons but tastes much better and is the famous Portuguese food. And yes I did enjoy the skin too!

It was then washed down with a small bar of Dairy Milk which was amazing though it felt like Fondue dipping sauce because it’s so hot here at the moment it had gone and melted on me!

My other bad moments this week (well there were lots) included:

-         A huge selection of Strepsils and anything else that I felt at the time would cure me

-         A mini Ben & Jerry’s tub on a day out (I just see Ben & Jerry’s logo and I just have to have it!)

-         Burger and Chips at Zoo Marine (god knows what’s happened as the burger tasted like those horrible 20 burgers for a pound that you get at Aldi)

"lose weight"And then the rest of the week I was as good as gold. May be that’s my secret? Because throughout the week I will not require any syns and never go over 1 a day. Then I can be naughty at other times of the week when I really need it.

I have also found not having any biscuits, ice cream and chocolate works. The urge goes after about 10 minutes and I can then work towards my weight loss dream.

Also last week was my period and I am managed to make it through a period without cheating. Something I never managed before – I think that’s the reason I rowed with my Dad most of the week (sorry dad).

So without further a do here is my weight loss for the last 7 days:

2.5 pounds off

I am over the moon.

I wanted to get my weight below 100 kilos as it sounds so bad to be over that which to the none kilo person is 220 pounds or 15st10.

So with the weight off I now weigh in at 99.4kilos = 15st9 (219 pounds) and this gives me a weight loss so far at the end of week 3 of 10 pounds which is great. I struggled so greatly last time to lose weight but I always forget I had weight gain through cancer so I should learn to understand this more.

I now want to aim at 1 kilo a week (2.2 pounds) as my weekly target. I have also looked up my 10 club target and I am only 13 pounds off my first one which would be lovely to hit that by Christmas. But with that do I base it on 10% since I started this diet or since I started Slimming World?

Oh yes and before I forget I managed very little in the sense of exercise over the last 7 days and just power walked 6 laps of 1750metres each = 10.5km. I can moan about that but its still the same distance as the Great North Run!

Week 4 Is Here And A Bad Week On The Slimming World Diet

So I have been obsessing this week about how much weight I will have lost this week. We all have those weeks when we have had a couple of good weeks and hope that the luck will carry on.
I have also been a bit more active on the weight loss forums and it is very interesting to see how other people are doing with their own weight loss dream. When you first start dieting especially if you are not going to a weight loss group, like the only one in the world that has weight to lose. So by going down the forums you realise that there are people out there that are bigger than you and some that have less weight to lose than yourself.

"bad week on the slimming world diet"So this week I made it to the same week I quit Slimming World on last time. That dreaded week when you are really well behaved on your diet and you either lose a very small amount of weight or you maintain it.

Well back in September 2006 that’s exactly what happened in group. I lost just half a pound when I had been as good as gold. Though looking back its like just now!!!!

I had started to really go for it with exercise and my reckoning is that you are building a bit of muscle and this is giving you a negative effect. My husband and my family have told me this week I look like I have lost a lot of weight so I must have had my toning up week!

I don’t feel slimmer myself – but then again with us living with it everyday it’s how other people see us. My parents are due in Portugal next month so it will be interesting to see what they say as they haven’t seen me in the flesh since May.

So without further a do my total weight loss for the week is zero!

Therefore I have maintained this week and hopefully I will have a much better weight loss next week. The hubby is trying to stop me being miserable and I have said as long as its not a recurring thing I will chill a bit and look forward to next week!

A Pound Off This Week And The Urge To Lose Weight Is Back!


So after two weeks maintaining I was starting to feel like a real failure. Would the weight ever come off me? Were my targets too extreme? How can you possibly go from a good month of weight loss to nothing over a fortnight?

All questions that I would feel would have great support at a Slimming World group but as an online member I often feel like I am on my own. No wonder so many people go to group!

So over the last week I haven’t been perfect of my diet. Well I say that and I am sure there are people out there that have a lot more syns than me. Normally I will go from day to day on no syns and then treat myself once a week with a naughty meal such as coconut chicken (4 syns) or a small bar of Cadburys chocolate.

"weight loss"Well over the last week I was so depressed over my lack of weight loss and a period that I managed a naughty treat a day. I did add up my treats and I wasn’t as bad as you think – about 6-8 syns a day but why do I feel so guilty about that amount?

I can’t believe how many carbs I had the night before I got weighed and I still lost a pound. Unbelieveable don’t you think?

So it’s the day after Halloween and a bank holiday in Portugal so I having a buffet. Naughty I know but this is in between playing on Wii sports so I don’t believe it will cause a weight gain and then I can be as good as gold all week!!!

So hopefully next week will be a better week. I would love to get below what I weighed when I went on holiday in June and my target for this next week (fingers crossed) is another pound. Obviously I would like more but to say that I am 15st7 sounds so much better than 15st8 (which I am now). I would also like to get down to 15st5 to complete my first stone off but we will have to wait and see.

My weight loss dream is really to be at my club 10 target for Christmas which is 14st10 so I am 12 pounds away from that so far.

On the exercise front with living in Portugal and how hot it is indoor swimming pools are no good in the summer so I was waiting on November before I started that so over the next few weeks I will be back to swimming. After my operation I also need to tone my muscles and I couldn’t think of anything better.

So I am back – even though it’s just a pound off in three weeks I feel good about myself again. So watch this space!

Another Pound Off And I have Had Chocolate This Week On The Slimming World Diet

So I am now seven weeks in with the weight loss dream and have had a total weight loss of 12 pounds. Which by my calculations works out at 1.71 pounds a week or 0.77 kilos a week. Not earth shattering weight loss but enough to keep me happy. Plus they do say when you lose it slowly it stays off.

Back at the beginning of the year when I was depressed because my weight wasn’t coming off (obviously I know why now) my beautician pointed out that 1 pound a week still adds up and over a year that is 52 pounds. So if I carry on with my 1.71 pounds average a week that means in 48 days when its Christmas day and I am camera happy I will have lost another 11.72 pounds and will weigh in at 14st9.5 which will be ½ a pound below my planned Christmas target and I will have reached my Club 10 Slimming World target.

But going back on the theory if you do have a lot of weight to lose then 52 pounds would be an easy target to achieve and think a year from now I would be 11st11 and in a size 14 (well a girl can dream cant she?).

So over the past week I have had lots of chocolate as my mum decided to fill our house with it even though I had a no chocolate in the house rule. Plus the chocolate she bought for my son he doesn’t like. So I have had about 4 bars of 2 finger mint kitkats this week.

It doesn’t even bear thinking about does it?

So I am plodding along and determined to have a really good week this week and you never know come next week I might have actually lost more than a pound. I would really like to get more into the Wii Fit and I will keep you posted next week.

Back To Maintaining My Weight At Slimming World And Kick Starting My Christmas Weight Loss Targets

As I write this its 24 hours since I got weighed and realised I had lost very little. I have not quite maintained but lost very little this week. I was hoping for a weight loss of 0.7 kilos this week and managed a pathetic 0.2.
Horrible amount – I know it is still a weight loss and compared to the husband’s gain of 0.2 I should be happy but I am not. So I have gone from being 98.6kilos and 217.3 pounds to 98.4kilos and 216.8 pounds. Though it does sound nice to say that I am below 15 and a half stones.

"weight loss"So then I look at where I went wrong over the last week.

I still didn’t have loads of syns but the supply of mint 2 finger kitkats entering my body has been growing and my exercise hasn’t felt like I have been putting much of an effort in at all. I feel like my exercise is getting me by but I don’t feel motivated and I certainly don’t feel like I am pushing myself in the slightest.

So I am fresh off the Wii this morning and enjoyed a full 17 minutes on the Zumba which I think if memory serves me correctly is the most I have ever done on it at once.

It felt really good and I feel like I want to do another 17 minutes so next time I am going to push myself even more and do the 20 minute mini class. Which looks very good and I can’t wait to try it.

I am also going to match this up with some different things on the Wii and target the high impact exercises rather than messing around with the balance games. Which I would agree is great for the posture but never that great for actually losing weight.

So I will be checking out the boxing, more Zumba and some more step aerobics. I have got a higher step so it is like doing the two step up at the step aerobics class. Can only manage 8 minutes at once though. I have tried much longer but my legs felt absolutely awful. I just couldn’t believe how much they ached.

I have also read many times how important 15 minutes of exercise is and rather than do big lots of exercise small amounts are better. So I am going to challenge myself to 60 minutes a day in 4 lots of 15 minutes.

Now doing this is going to be tough especially while holding down a full time business.

So I am going to report back next week with a full countdown of all exercise I am going to do. This week is going to be the week for me! So watch this space.

Another Weight Loss At Slimming World And Less Than Three Weeks Until Christmas

So I have been so busy working and eating maltesers that I have not had the chance to update you on my weight loss to date.
So I weighed myself yesterday morning and was pleased to find out that I had lost 0.7 kilos which meant that I have now officially lost over a stone since I started this site. Well 14.5 pounds to be exact!

Plus I am on a period this week which means that I can not physically cope without huge quantities of chocolate.

The last few days I have been obsessed with maltesers and whenever I see an advert on the television for them I turn into this crazy mad woman! So last night I gave in and shared a bag of maltesers with the husband though I may confess I did eat a lot more of them than he did!

"weight loss dream"And it never feels as bad to cheat straight after weighing yourself as you have a full week to get back to normal.

I am considering a different type of cheating over the next month or so though. The beauty treatments that are supposed to help with weight loss are incredibly cheap here in Portugal so I am going to give it a go and see how much weight I lose with it.

Last time I tried it I lost 2 kilos in one week which is nearly three times what I lost last week and is the same amount as killing yourself on the diet for a week.

So I will see what I can find to get done with the build up to Christmas but for now I am celebrating my first stone off and here is to the next stone. I am now just 8.5 pounds off my first club 10 target.

And it would be lovely to be there for my birthday at the end of January!
